Current Issues and Events
Greenland is a large island that is mostly ice and it is melting much faster than anywhere else in the world. This is effecting the way people live by restricting traditional ice sledding and disappointing tourists who travel to see the ice and polar bears. Some groups think that this might be a good thing because it allows for easier travel and easier access to Greenland's oil. Whether good or bad, Greenland's warming will certainly dramatically change the lives of the people who live there. http://www.dw-world.de/dw/article/0,,4563179,00.html?maca=en-rss-en-all-1573-xml-atom

Green land has recently voted to become completely independent from Denmark. This should help their economy because it lets them control their oil, gas, and diamonds. They will also now be able to have their own offical language : Greenlandic.
